5 amazing ways to boost your confidence so you can take on anything

5 amazing ways to boost your confidence so you can take on anything

Let's quickly talk about confidence before we get to the 5 steps, Stick with it. I'll make it worth your while.
Confidence do you have it?
  • a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.
Experts have linked many factors to a person's confidence and their own self-belief of their confidence status & level of confidence, we all have our own status of self-confidence where we believe we know where that is but this level also fluctuates & goes up and down depending on these specific factors.
Our mood can determine the level of confidence we have, the situation we are in also determines the level. Our health, happiness & well-being all play a massive part in how confident we are as a person which in turns plays an even greater part in our life.
"The Level of our self confidence fluctuates depending on specific factors that influence us at that time."
We all know 1 or more super confident person from our social/work circles that instantly pops into our head, one thing we all do is to think of these people when a difficult situation rears its head. Our brain naturally puts the pieces of the puzzle together to try and solve this dilemma the best we can.
Difficult Problem + Confident Person = Problem Solved
So.. why does our brain do this?
We learned it growing up. When faced with something difficult as a child we called upon our parents because they have shown us confidence in our other problematic situations. The same goes for other areas of our life if we are having a problem with something we call in the experts that have experience, their confidence gives us confidence.
Now let's move forward with the 5 amazing ways..

1) Pretend To Be Confident

You might think how can I pretend to be confident if I'm not actually like that as a person, well the answer to that is practice, practice, and more practice.
Watch someone who is confident and listen to what they say and then adopt it into your own technique. Watch their body language and you will start to see how comfatable they are and how they change the position of their body depending on the situation.
  • a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.
Your body language plays a large role in how confident your mind is feeling, there are simple techniques that allow you feel more confident either during situations such as a discussion with your boss or prior to the situation like a job interview for example.
This amazing Ted talk by Amy Cuddy shows just how important your body language really is > Your body language shapes who you are

2) Move Your Body

Exercise is directly linked to how confident you are feeling, how many times have you seen those gym selfies others post on Facebook. We all know they've done like 2 push-ups but hey if it gives them the boost they need then I'm all for it, take 100 a week if you have to.
That aside if you have something about your body that you're not happy with this can add to the lack of confidence you might be feeling.
When standing in a group of people you may feel inadequate about your weight or a particular part of your body, it's not rocket science if you can minimize this inadequacy by toning up or losing weight then the confidence levels begin to go up... especially when others start to notice it and begin to compliment you!

- "Hey give us a gun show"

- "You working out, you're looking good"

  • a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.
The trick with exercise is consistency, now you can make all the excuses under the sun that you don't have enough time but if you are not going to look after the only body you will ever have then how are you expected to ever have any self-confidence!
"Begin the journey of self improvement by investing time into your body, health & well being"

3) Feed Your Brain

Learning is a lifelong process that enables personal growth which has no limits, if you learn a specific area well enough you can become an expert in that area which can then open doors to a new career or business venture.
When you speak about a subject that you know extremely well you naturally feel more confident because you have belief in your ability to tell someone what you have learned from your experiences.
  • a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.
Can you imagine where your level of self-confidence would sit when lots of people deem you as an expert in your area and they constantly seek you out for your knowledge and expertise.

4) Dress It Up

There's a lot to be said for taking care of how our clothing, hair, teeth and makeup look as we are consciously aware of how we are being perceived by others. If we can sense others like our style then this naturally lifts our confidence.
  • a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.
Now you don't have to throw all your clothes out and buy a new wardrobe or go out and get a faceful of botox, it's more about subtle changes and just spending a little bit of time thinking about your appearance for work that day or for that event that is coming up.
For me teeth is a big one because if you are insecure about your teeth this can prevent you from smiling or laughing and everybody deserves to do that whenever they want to.

5) Help Others Succeed

This is one step that I hold dear to my heart and I have been honing this skill for some time, helping others is a remarkable way to gain confidence and it also makes you feel good about yourself which in turn reasures you of your own abilities.
When you solve the problems of others you get a sense of satisfaction which lifts you higher and makes you naturally feel more confident.
  • a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.
This also incorporates the learning part from step 3 because when you start to look at the problems of others you will find that you uncover hurdles yourself which you then gain knowledge from.
Helping Others = New Problems + Solving Problems = Knowledge = Confidence
